Modeling, Simulation and Analysis of A Novel Two Layer 8/6 Hybrid Switched Reluctance Motor/Field-Assisted Generator

Abstract:
Switched Reluctance Machine is applied formany industry applications because it has simple structure,high variable speed range. This paper introduces a novelconfiguration for a four phase switched reluctance machine. The proposed novel machine consists of two magneticallystator and rotor layers, where each stator set includes eightsalient poles with windings wrapped around them, while therotor comprises of six salient poles with different arc lengthsand no windings. This motor includes the two sets areconnected dependently. In this connection the stator poles ineach layer can have both North and South Poleconfigurations. A new four phase 8/6 two layers SwitchedReluctance Machine is proposed for analysis with 3D FiniteElement Method (FEM) by numerical techniques. The motorapplication is simulated with Magnet Software to get motor'scharacteristics consist of flux and torque. A novel four phasefield assisted Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) isproposed. This generator consists of two magneticallydependent stator and rotor sets. The magneto staticsimulation is carried out in this study.
