The Management of Distributed Energy Resources for Voltage Control in Smart Grids

Abstract:
Using the communication infrastructure andmanagement that created in smart grids, end-user reactive powercapable devices can be coordinated for voltage support. In smartgrids, Energy Management System (EMS) is responsible fornetwork management. On the other hand, DistributionManagement System (DMS) can be used in very widespreadgrids to make some of the decisions for network management. Inthis paper, a new framework for voltage control in distributionfeeder based on the decentralize manner has been presented. Inthis method, the DMS is used for making the decisions and thecentral EMS supervises to the decisions that make by DMS. Forthis purpose, a three-layer management system is developed andresources are grouped. Consequently, results are implemented in69-bus distribution network.
